Here’s What You Need To Know About NerdWallet Life Insurance

Nerdwallet has many business relationships with banks and insurance companies.  The website receives compensation from fees it receives when it matches users with a company’s financial products and services.  For example, sometimes they receive compensation when someone clicks to apply, or gets approved for a financial product.

When you request a term life insurancewhole life insurance, or universal life insurance quote from Nerdwallet, you will be redirected to another website called Quotacy.  

Quotacy is backed by Hallett Financial Group, Inc.  

Hallett Financial Group, Inc is a full service multi-carrier independent insurance brokerage agency.


The Process of Buying NerdWallet Life Insurance through Quotacy

Step 1.  Enter basic information on the Quotacy life insurance website.

  • Zip Code
  • Gender
  • Birthday
  • Do you smoke? Y/N

The website automatically gives you a price for a $500,000 20 Year Term Life Insurance Policy You can adjust the coverage amount and length of coverage and get different prices.  

Note: You are not given the option to quote these products with available life insurance riders like a children’s term life insurance rider.  You will have to speak to an agent to get the cost with any additional riders. 

Step 2.  Compare Policies

You will be asked the following questions…

  • Height & weight?
  • Do you use any form of tobacco or nicotine?
  • Do you take blood pressure medication?
  • Do you take cholesterol medication?
  • Has any parent or sibling been diagnosed with or died from heart disease, diabetes, or cancer?

Once you click on the “Choose a Policy” button, you will be provided with a list of the top Nerdwallet life insurance company quotes sorted by price.

If you like a quote and click on the “Choose” button you will be required to register with Quotacy.

Step 3.  The Application

Once you create your Quotacy Life Insurance account, the quote will be confirmed.

After you click on the “Start Application” button…

YES.  They are very efficient in handling the life insurance application/underwriting process.  HOWEVER, as with most life insurance brokerage websites,  they tend to call and email you too much if you review the quotes and do not actually buy.

YES.  Check out the Better Business Bureau.  However, there are few complaints relative to how many users the website has.  There are no complaints about Quotacy Life Insurance with the BBB.

YES – The website is full of informative articles on a variety of financial and estate planning subjects.  The information is relevant/reliable and their platform is safe and secure.

The Bottom Line

It is okay to buy your life insurance through Nerdwallet / Quotacy.  They provide an excellent way to secure valuable life insurance protection.  

However, keep in mind, you can secure the exact same valuable life insurance protection, here —and on most life insurance brokerage sites—  so, although their website is excellent, they do not provide anything particularly unique when it comes to life insurance companies or products.
