Best Health Classes Available With Alternative Non-Medical Requirements:
- Trendsetter Super: Standard Plus / Standard smoker
- Trendsetter LB $100,000 – $249,999: Standard nonsmoker / Standard smoker
- Trendsetter LB $250,000+ Standard Plus / Standard smoker
Cases will be approved without a medical exam if underwriting is able to make an offer based on a non-medical part II health questionnaire and fast data sources like the prescription drug data base, the medical information bureau, the motor vehicle report, etc,. Underwriting may order a COVID-19 3 questions personal history interview or other requirements if necessary.
All health classes are available at traditional underwriting requirements.
Face amounts $100,000 to $2,000,000
In addition to the Part II non-medical health questionnaire, the fast data sources, and a COVID-19 3 questions personal history interview, a paramed exam/lab slip competed for other carriers within the last 12 months or a primary care physician exam and full labs from within the past 12 months is required.
All traditional health classes available for consideration
AGES 56-75
Normal age and amount requirements will continue to be required.
Cases rated over Table B for the following conditions will be referred to Transamerica’s medical department for consideration.
- Cardiac
- Cancer
- Respiratory
- Hypertension,
- Diabetes
During COVID-19, Transamerica will not offer Long Term Care Rider or the Chronic & Critical Accelerated Death Benefit Riders (Living Benefits).
Over Age 75: All cases postponed.

#1 Health Class = Preferred Plus
#2 Health Class = Preferred
#3 Health Class = Standard Plus

Blood Pressure: -Up to age 70 – 135/85. Ages 71+ – 145/85. Ages 49 & under: Without treatment. Ages 50–80: With treatment, as long as readings fit criteria above. Ages 81+: Without treatment
Cholesterol: Cholesterol with or without treatment: 230 Cholesterol/HDL 5.0 for ages 70 & under. 5.5 for ages 71+.
Family History: No family deaths before age 65 of heart, vascular disease, or cancer of either parent or any sibling. Disregard if age 65 or older. Some gender specific cancers may qualify for better rates.
Tobacco: No tobacco/nicotine for 5 years
Driving Record: No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years. No convictions for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No reckless driving in the past 5 years.
#2 Health Class = Preferred
Blood Pressure: With or without treatment, up to and including age 70 – 145/85. age 71+ – 150/90.
Cholesterol: Cholesterol with or without treatment: 260 Cholesterol/HDL 5.5 for ages 70 & under. 6.0 for ages 71+.
Family History: No family deaths before age 60 of heart, vascular disease, or cancer of either parent. Disregard if 60 or older. Some gender specific cancers may qualify for better rates.
Tobacco: No tobacco /nicotine for 2 years.
Driving Record: No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years. No convictions for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No reckless driving in the past 5 years
#3 Health Class = Standard Plus
Blood Pressure: With or without treatment, up to and including age 70 – 148/88. Age 71+ – 152/88.
Cholesterol: Cholesterol with or without treatment: 300 Cholesterol/HDL 6.2 for ages 70 & under. 6.7 for ages 71+.
Family History: No family deaths before age 60 of heart, vascular disease, or cancer of either parent. Disregard if 71 or older.
Tobacco: No tobacco/nicotine use for 2 years
Driving Record: No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years. No convictions for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No reckless driving in the past 5 years.
